Art has always been a part of me. And I think it's a part of most
peoples lives at least when you are a child. Every child draws and paints and makes things
in school. When I think back at those times, I just smile...

I only recently make the realization that I love working with my hands. I know it sounds bizarre. I mean
I always knew that I really enjoyed making things but I never thought of it in those terms.
I was lucky enough when I was about 13 to have a really great forming experience, where it comes to art.
I'm not sure how it came about, but I ended up taking a painting course. This woman taught the course, unfortunately I don't
remember her name and it's a real shame, because she was life altering where I was concerned. It was an evening course I ended up
taking, with some adults. She really took a liking to me, encouraging me to explore my talents. At the end of the course, I
remember her talking to my mother and strongly urging her to send me to Montreal's Fine Art school. She believed I had great talent
and that I should cultivate it.
I never ended up going to the art school but that experience alone gave me the encouragement and confidence I
needed to try all of he various mediums that I have. The latest medium I attempted was metal. Last year I took a metal working
class, given at one of the local high schools. It was an evening adult class and it was great. I ended up making a snake stand that
I am very proud of. I've also worked with wood and a whole bunch of other mediums.
The funny thing about my art is that I don't really have a preference where the medium is concerned. The bottom line
is that I really, truly love creating. I love coming up with an idea and creating it and having the final product in front of me. Of
course it's always great when I get praises for the things I have made! ;-)
As with the Music section, I would like to post some of the works I have created, so keep an eye open for that.
